On July 25, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) will consider the application of the DVL Telecom company regarding the purchase of the Ukrainian operator lifecell. This is indicated in the draft agenda of the committee meeting. It should be noted that the deadline for consideration passed on July 18.
Deal details
DVL Telecom, a subsidiary of the French investment company NJJ Capital, whose owner is billionaire Xavier Niel, seeks to gain control over LLC Global Bilgi, Lifecell and Ukrtower. NJJ intends to combine the assets of lifecell and "Datagroup-Volya" into a single company that will provide a comprehensive package of services, which will include mobile communications, fixed communications and the Internet.
New structure management
- The united platform will be headed by Mykhailo Shelemba, who is currently the CEO of Datagroup-Volya.
- Pierre Danon will retain the position of chairman of the supervisory board in the new structure.
Financial aspects
Previously, AMCU granted permission to NJJ to acquire control over Datagroup-Volya ". After the merger, "Datagroup", "Volya" and lifecell will receive investments in the amount of $435 million for further development. These funds will come from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
In general, the agreement on the acquisition of "Datagroup-Volia" and lifecell will bring investments in the amount of $1.5 billion to Ukraine.
