5G in Ukraine: Pilot project in three cities to test compatibility with military networks
Ukraine is preparing to introduce 5G technology with pilot projects in three cities, focusing on compatibility with military equipment. This is a significant step towards the full launch of 5G by 2030, promising revolutionary changes in data speeds and frequency flexibility.

Testing in three cities
According to the Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov, Ukraine is starting to implement a pilot project to introduce 5G communications. The experiment will be carried out in three cities of the country, where the main task will be to test the compatibility of the new generation of communications with existing military equipment. The project is divided into two stages and is designed for a two-year period.
Checking compatibility with military networks
During the tests, the National Commission for Electronic Communications (NCEC), together with the Ukrainian State Radio Frequency Center, will conduct a thorough analysis of the impact of 5G equipment on the functioning of military communications systems. This is a critical aspect for ensuring national security in the face of technological progress.
Advantages of 5G technology
Fedorov emphasizes that the launch of the pilot project is a key step towards the full implementation of 5G by 2030 year. The new communication standard promises a tenfold increase in data transfer speeds compared to 4G. This opens up unprecedented opportunities for the exchange of large amounts of information at ultra-high speeds, which could revolutionize many areas of life and the economy.
Optimizing spectrum usage
The introduction of 5G will also provide telecom operators with greater flexibility in the use of frequency spectrum. The 2100 MHz band will become available not only for 3G, but also for 2G and 4G technologies. In addition, the cessation of the use of frequencies 694-862 MHz for television broadcasting will make it possible to use them for mobile communications, which will significantly expand the capabilities of operators and improve the quality of services for users.
Glossary
- 5G is the fifth generation of mobile communications, providing ultra-high data transfer speeds and minimal delays
- NKEC - National Commission for Electronic Communications, the regulatory body in the field of communications in Ukraine
- Mikhail Fedorov - Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, supervising the implementation of new technologies
- 4G - the fourth generation of mobile communications, preceding 5G
- MHz - megahertz, unit of measurement of frequency , used in radio communications

Wow, 5G is finally being launched in Ukraine! 🚀 I wonder in which cities they will test?
Hans
This is a really big step forward! I hope that the testing will be successful and there will be no problems with military equipment. Safety comes first.

Stefania, I heard that testing will take place in three cities. I wonder if they will choose large metropolitan areas or small towns? 🤔
Stefania
Lucille, good question! I think it would be more logical to start with large cities, where there are more users and a diverse infrastructure. But on the other hand, in small cities it is easier to control the process 🏙️

Guys, can you imagine what opportunities 5G will open up? 10 times faster 4G - this is a breakthrough! Especially for business and technology development 💼💡
Viktor
Again these newfangled things. Why do we need 5G when 4G is enough? They will only waste money and ruin nature with their towers. It would be better if the roads were repaired.
Hans
Viktor, I understand your concern, but progress is inevitable. 5G opens new horizons for medicine, education, and industry. This is not just fast internet for entertainment.
Lucille
I agree with Hans! By the way, I wonder how our daily life will change with the advent of 5G? Maybe some new services or devices will appear that we don’t even know about yet? 🌟
