The merger of the mobile operator lifecell and the Internet service provider "Datagroup-Volya" may take place in mid-May 2024, opening wide prospects for both companies and their customers.

Creation of a combined company
After approval by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU), the agreement to purchase French billionaire Xavier Niel of Turkcell's Ukrainian assets, including lifecell, UkrTower and GlobalBilgi, will be completed. Mykhailo Shelemba, the current head of Datagroup-Volya, will become the CEO of the newly created holding, probably under the name DVL Telecom. The operational teams of the companies will work separately, but it is planned to create a special Project Management Office (PMO) unit to coordinate activities.
Key goals for 2024
The leadership of the new telecommunications player has identified four priority areas of activity for 2024 year: launch of a single package of services, acquisition of new frequency bands and implementation of 5G networks, integration of personnel and improvement of base station productivity by connecting to optical networks.
Mergers and investments
The combination of operational activities of lifecell and "Datagroup-Volya" opens the way to market consolidation. The company plans to acquire regional players and introduce new technologies. In general, the agreement will bring investments of $1.5 billion to Ukraine.
